
During the last weekend of March 2010, a prominent group of Muslim academics, scholars and theologians from across the Muslim convened in the historical city of Mardin to discuss the implications of the “Mardin” fatwa. Speakers are listed in alphabetical order according to surname.
Shaykh Habib ‘Ali al-Jifri
Shaykh Habib ‘Ali al-Jifri was born in Jeddah, hailing from an illustrious family from Hadhramawt, an ancient and majestic part of Yemen. He is Founder of the ‘Tabah Foundation for Islamic Studies and Research’ based in the United Arab Emirates. He is also a lecturer at Dar al-Mustafa, Tarim, an educational institute established for the study of traditional Islamic sciences. Habib ‘Ali is continually invited to lecture in many countries across the globe and appears regularly on a variety of network television and radio programs.
